Whether you’re looking to take a long bike ride, hike in the woods, engage in competitive sports or just sit back with a fishing pole and relax, Montgomery County has something for all ages, whether they’re seeking out relaxation, adventure, or a bit of both.

There are 2,400 acres of forests, nature preserves and wildlife areas for exploration. A 340-mile bike and hike trail system, which is centered in downtown Dayton, extends throughout the region, so two-wheelers and bipeds can enjoy the rider friendly metro or glide through the rivers, streams and fields that populate Five Rivers Metro Parks. 

• There are more than 70 miles of paved trails in Montgomery County. The Miami Valley also boasts the Nation’s Largest Paved Bike Trail Network with more than 340 miles of paved, multi-use bikeways.

• After the greater Dayton community raised $4 million, Dayton's recently finished RiverScape River Run, opens the downtown river to a beautiful seven-mile paddle from Eastwood MetroPark on the Mad River, through downtown to the Carillon Historical Park and University of Dayton area.
• Founded upon the principles of regional collaboration, cooperation, and consensus building, the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission serves as the common ground where area partners come together to work toward a shared vision across the Region.
