2018 Results a Testament to Ohio’s Team

It takes a team to achieve the results Ohio reached in 2018 and the Governor’s Cup rankings are a testament to that. Site Selection released its annual Governor’s Cup rankings, and Ohio earned the No. 2 spot for total qualified projects in 2018 for the fifth consecutive year and placed third in qualified projects per capita. The recognition makes Ohio, for the third consecutive year, the only state to place in the top three of both categories.

Ohio’s micropolitans once again provided big opportunities for businesses, earning 17 spots in the Top 100 Micropolitans. With 23 investments, Findlay is the No. 1 micropolitan, for the fifth straight year, among the nation’s 551 micropolitan areas. Wooster came in second, while Ashland tied for fifth and Defiance came in eighth. Other Ohio cities making the top 100 list include, in order of rank: Tiffin, Wapakoneta, Fremont, Sidney, Ashtabula, Bellefontaine, Bucyrus, Celina, Zanesville, New Philadelphia-Dover, Norwalk, Salem and Wilmington.

Cincinnati and Columbus both placed in the top 10 list for metropolitans with a population over 1 million, ranking fifth and seventh respectively. Dayton-Kettering ranked number 2 in metropolitans with a population between 200,000 and 1 million, while Toledo came in fourth in the same category.
