Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Montgomery County has made the decision to cancel the Spring 2020 Funding Cycle of the Economic Development and Government Equity (ED/GE) Grant Program.

The ED/GE program is funded through sales tax revenue that will be significantly impacted as a result of COVID-19. Montgomery County is taking a proactive approach to identify budget alternatives that will ensure that residents receive the critical human services they need to recover from this pandemic.

“It was a difficult decision to cancel our Spring ED/GE program, but I want to reassure the community that our team is still working hard to attract new businesses and retain local companies,” said Chris Williams, Montgomery County Assistant County Administrator for Business Services. “We remain committed to investing in our local business community to help fuel our economy and provide employment opportunities for our citizens.”

The Board of County Commissioners anticipates that the ED/GE program will resume for the Fall 2020 Funding Cycle as scheduled and will keep you apprised of changes as they happen. Applications for the Fall 2020 ED/GE Grant Program will still be due on Nov. 1.

Montgomery County and our partners will continue to work with local businesses to identify resources that can assist them through their own COVID-19 recovery. Strong businesses are a critical part to restoring our local economy and we will continue to actively support them.
