A Dayton-area college is welcoming a record breaking class this fall.

Wilmington College’s freshmen class will be the largest in the school’s history. With around 385 first-time freshmen, the Wilmington has set a new record, according to the school.

The record level of freshmen studying at Wilmington eclipses highs set in 1946 and equalled in 2014. The 1946 record was set in response to the GI Bill which caused an enrollment boom in the years following the end to World War II, according to the school.

The school also welcomed its largest crop of new students this fall at 450, which includes freshmen and transfer students combined. The previous record of new students was 437 set in 2014, according to the college.

The new record brings the total number of students on Wilmington College’s main campus to 1,103, according to the school. Cincinnati branch campuses of Wilmington College have around 139 students enrolled this fall.
